Geothermal HVAC systems do use electricity, but they are still more energy-efficient than conventional HVAC systems. They use only one unit of energy to move five units to your home.

MYTH: Geothermal HVAC systems take up too much yard space.

These systems are mostly underground and therefore do not take up much room. They actually can be buried vertically to avoid using above-ground space, depending on your yard. Additionally, inside the home, the unit is roughly the same size of a traditional HVAC unit.

MYTH: Geothermal systems only work for heating.

Actually, geothermal systems work effectively for both heating and cooling.

MYTH: Geothermal HVAC systems do not last that long.

In fact, geothermal systems can last generations. Typically, the heat-exchange equipment lasts for decades. In the past, the first systems ran into problems with overheating or cooling, but the systems have now been perfected.
